About VCU Continuing and Professional Education and LEDstudio–

VCU Continuing and Professional Education (VCU CPE), in partnership with the colleges and schools at Virginia Commonwealth University, provides and supports quality continuing and professional education and skills training for individual, local, regional and national impact. VCU Continuing and Professional Education harnesses the power of VCU — including more than 3,300 instructional faculty and adjunct instructors, an academic medical center and long-standing community relationships — to create the best learning opportunities available to nontraditional adult learners.

VCU LEDstudio is a leader in providing quality higher education using a number of delivery methods, including fully online and hybrid. The unit broadly supports faculty and academic units in their efforts to leverage technology to optimize student learning, and provides strategic leadership in developing, expanding and enhancing VCU’s online learning programs and energizing the assessment and continuous quality improvement of current and new technology mediated courses and programs.

The position is a Lead Program Manager and School Liaison (Lead PMSL) [Sr Program Manager CE 1-3] for VCU Continuing and Professional Education. Program Manager and School Liaisons build, maintain, manage, coordinate, and oversee a portfolio of continuing and professional education programs and provide services (credit and noncredit) that meet the needs of internal and external VCU constituents, both in open enrollment and custom training formats. The Lead PMSL is responsible for all aspects of each partnership and program within their portfolio, with support from the program coordinator and the operations team. They work with internal schools and colleges to develop noncredit revenue generating programs and services; work with external organizations to develop and enhance employee workplace competencies and skills by partnering to develop and deliver education solutions on a revenue generating basis; contribute to the development of new client or business relationships toward the achievement of revenue and enrollment goals, as monitored in conjunction with the unit’s budget director; and produce written documents such as reports, proposals, and memorandums of agreements for individual programs, and to help guide strategic planning, budgeting and decision making. This position is responsible for collaborating and building relationships with stakeholders, assessing demand for continuing education programs, and identifying specific educational needs of the defined target audience. The Lead PMSL develops strong relationships with internal and external constituents and works to maintain valuable partnerships; participates in various on and off campus events toward the goal of networking with potential clients; manages student and part-time workers as assigned; participates in department staff meetings and other university committees and meetings, as appropriate; and completes other job related duties as assigned.

The Lead PMSL also manages the program team, consisting of Program Manager and School Liaisons and a Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for overseeing the assignment, progress, and completion of course and program offerings, providing professional development guidance and support, assisting in the development and revision of program development and implementation procedures and processes, and creating program reports. The Lead PMSL is responsible for overseeing accurate scoping and successful planning, development, and implementation of new and existing continuing education courses and programs for a wide range of adult learners. This position will ensure compliance with university policies and procedures for all continuing education programming, review and analyze program budgets, and collaborate with the marketing team to identify effective promotional strategies.

The Lead PMSL pursues professional development opportunities and association memberships to stay current in the field and contribute to the scholarship and professionalism of the unit.

This position is predominantly telework, but requires on campus and off campus presence for programs and events related to the unit or our partners, community events, and meetings, as needed, and when indicated by leadership. The telework nature of this position is subject to change based on university need and strategic direction.
