Duke University School of Medicine also ranks among the top American medical schools in National Institutes of Health grant funding (excluding R&D contracts and ARRA awards) with more than $304 million in the 2016 fiscal year.
Duke is home to the nation's largest and oldest academic clinical research organization – the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI).
