The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) is excited to announce the opening of signups for 2021-2022 committees, taskforces, and advisory boards.
Individual members or persons associated with an Accredited Provider in good standing are eligible to participate in one or more of these rewarding professional workgroups.
At IACET, we have established a climate of collegiality and a culture of inclusion. Through the work of committees, advisory boards, and taskforces, you can make an impact in the continuing education and training industry.
The signups will be open until June 30, 2021 and appointments will be made by the Board Chair shortly thereafter. Below please find an explanation of each committee, task force, and advisory board.
The Awards Committee exists to highlight and promote deserving individuals, innovators, projects, or programs that have significantly contributed to the field of continuing education and training. The Committee will evaluate award nominations and select winners for various awards as appropriate consistent with the nomination guidelines. Additionally, this group presents ideas for new service awards and makes recommendations for any necessary changes to the overall process. Expectations include attending committee meetings, at minimum, on a quarterly basis, and are expected to provide timely consideration of applications for awards.
Chaired by the Secretary of the Board, the IACET Bylaws, Policies and Procedures Committee exists to ensure accuracy, relevancy, and alignment of IACET’s governing documents. The Committee develops strategies for necessary revision to governing documents and submits recommendations to the Board of Directors. The committee reviews IACET's policies and procedures and bylaws and ensures that all leadership groups are in line with the bylaws and consistent between the groups. Expectations include attendance at committee meetings, at a minimum, on a quarterly basis.
The Finance Committee, chaired by the Treasurer of the Board, exists to ensure the association’s financial health, and ensures the stability and growth through fiscal responsibility.
The Committee reviews the organization’s budget, financial statements, investments, and overall financial health, and presents recommendations to the Board of Directors. Expectations for the Finance Committee involve quarterly conference calls.
The Nominations and Elections Committee recommends qualified candidates for leadership positions within the Organization. The Committee determines the slate of candidates for vacant positions on the Board of Directors, Commission, and Council on Standards Development, and oversee the nominations and elections process. The Committee will establish and document key performance indicators to measure. The expectation is that the Committee will meet, at a minimum, on a quarterly basis. The Committee is made-up of the following individuals: IACET CEO, (1) Council member, three (3) members from outside the Board, two (2) members from the Board of Directors, with the Chair of the Bylaws Committee serving as a non-voting liaison to ensure compliance with the IACET Bylaws and Policies and Procedures.
IACET has developed a specification that seeks to provide research-based practices, directions and recommendations to providers who wish to build solid and credible competency-based learning programs. This task force will take this work to the next phase by developing a business plan and overseeing a pilot accreditation program for IACET’s endeavor into the field of competency-based learning.
The Digital Badging Taskforce seeks to provide a reputable framework to promote quality practices within the digital badging ecosystem. This Task Force, made up of industry experts, offer guidance on the best practices in a metadata and quality assurance standard for open digital badges (ODB). Additionally, the task force provides recommendations to the IACET Board of Directors.
The IACET Membership Task Force is appointed and charged with responsibilities associated with recruitment, retention, affiliate benefits, and satisfaction of members. The Task Force shall plan, develop, guide implementation, and evaluate affiliate programs, to include (but is not limited to) benefits, services and/or programs consistent with the IACET mission, strategic plan, and/or direction provided the IACET Board of Directors.
The Distance Learning Task Force is responsible for providing guidance on the best practices for learning at a distance. This task force will continue to build on the current guidance document that has been created for the Continuing Education and Training industry and ensure the guidance documents readiness for the standards review process.
The Petroleum & Natural Gas (PNG) Advisory Board positively influences the industry by engaging in the pursuit of excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer, and application of knowledge. Additionally, the Advisory Board helps to shape the future by bringing together and developing leaders in the field to inspire the next generation and to advance ideas that benefit the Industry. This Advisory Board is responsible for developing Key Performance Indicators and advising the IACET Board of Directors of any knowledge as it relates to the Continuing Education and Training needs of the industry.
The Construction and Safety Industry Advisory Board is charged with developing Key Performance Indicators and for advising the IACET Board of Directors of any knowledge as it relates to the Continuing Education and Training needs of the industry. The Advisory Board positively influences the industry by engaging in the pursuit of excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer, and application of knowledge, and to advance ideas that benefit the Industry.
The Early Childhood/School Age Care Industry Advisory Board positively influences the industry by engaging in the pursuit of excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer, and application of knowledge. The Advisory Board will help shape the future by bringing together and developing leaders in the field and to advance ideas that benefit the Industry. The Advisory Board will establish and document key performance indicators and will advise the IACET Board of Directors of any knowledge as it relates to the Continuing Education and Training needs of the Industry.
The Workforce/Community College Advisory Board positively influences the industry by engaging in the pursuit of excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer, and application of knowledge. The Advisory Board will develop Key Performance Indicators and provide the IACET Board of Directors with recommendations as it pertains to the respective industry and goals. The Advisory Board is charged with shaping the future by bringing together and developing leaders in the field and to advance ideas that benefit the Industry.
The Engineering Advisory Board positively influences the industry by engaging in the pursuit of excellence through the creation, preservation, transfer, and application of knowledge. The Advisory Board will develop Key Performance Indicators and provide the IACET Board of Directors with recommendations as it pertains to the industry and goals. IACET seeks individuals in the industry to join the Advisory Board to guide IACET in more fully serving engineering professions in the area of Continuing Education and Training. The Advisory Board is charged with shaping the future by bringing together and developing leaders in the field and advancing ideas that benefit the Industry.
