During this presentation, the speaker will introduce the ASRT Educator Institute, a transformative program designed to empower medical imaging and radiation therapy educators as effective classroom instructors. Participants explore essential topics that include current principles of adult education, classroom management strategies, innovative curriculum design, and technology integration. The speaker will emphasize how these components work together to help educators create engaging learning environments that address the various needs of adult learners.
During this presentation, the speaker will outline key objectives of the ASRT Educator Institute, aimed at enhancing the skills of medical imaging and radiation therapy educators. Participants will identify and apply current principles of adult education, develop effective classroom management strategies, and design innovative curricula that cater to diverse learning needs. The presentation will also emphasize the importance of technology integration in the classroom and provide insights into effective candidate selection methods for teaching roles. Craig St. George, ASRT’s director of education began his health care career in the year 2000 as a patient transporter while studying radiography at Mayo Clinic Florida. He graduated in 2003 and over 11 years held various roles at Mayo Clinic; PRN radiographer, IR technologist, clinical instructor, interim radiography program director, IR supervisor, and program director for the vascular interventional radiography internship. In 2013, Craig left Mayo Clinic accepting a center operations manager position for American Access Care, a dialysis shunt management center associated with Fresenius Medical Care of North America. While there, Craig was a contract author for ASRT and later accepted the director of online education position with ASRT. He holds three associates degrees, a bachelor’s degree in professional development and advanced patient care, and a Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration. As director of education, he leads volunteer groups to maintain ASRT’s national curricula for medical imaging and radiation therapy, and manages ASRT’s learning and development, and continuing education teams.
