FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sterling, VA — February 25, 2026- The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) announced today that it has joined the Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education™ consortium as an Associate Member. This partnership aligns IACET’s content-agnostic continuing education unit (CEU) standard with the leading unified accreditation framework that enables organizations to deliver continuing education for multiple health professions through a single, coordinated process.
Joint Accreditation is a collaboration of major healthcare accreditors supporting interprofessional continuing education, in which two or more professions learn with, from, and about one another to improve teamwork and health outcomes. Through this unified model, jointly accredited providers can offer education for a broad range of professionals, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physician associates/physician assistants, psychologists, dentists, optometrists, social workers, athletic trainers, and dietitians.
“As organizations worldwide work to strengthen their health and human services workforce, they often face the challenge of navigating multiple accreditation frameworks at once,” said Randy Bowman, President and CEO of IACET. “By joining Joint Accreditation, IACET is helping create a more unified ecosystem where providers can design high-quality, outcomes-focused education that serves entire interprofessional teams. This partnership strengthens our shared mission to support learning that improves performance, collaboration, and ultimately, the delivery of care.”
“We are delighted to welcome IACET into the Joint Accreditation community,” said Dimitra Travlos, PharmD, FNAP, of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (one of the co-founding organizations of Joint Accreditation). “IACET brings deep expertise in defining and upholding high standards for continuing education across industries. Their collaboration will enrich our collective work to create a coordinated, efficient, and high-quality accreditation environment—one that empowers organizations to design learning that supports interprofessional teams and advances care for the communities they serve.”
As an Associate Member, IACET will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Joint Accreditation model while working alongside organizations such as AAPA, ADA CERP, APA, ARBO/COPE, ASWB, BOC, and CDR. Through this partnership, IACET aims to expand access to high-quality continuing education for the global workforce, clarify how its CEU standard aligns with Joint Accreditation’s criteria, and support providers who deliver team-based education across clinical and non-clinical roles.
IACET will release additional guidance in the coming months to help organizations understand how IACET accreditation and Joint Accreditation complement one another. Updates will be available at https://www.iacet.org, and subscribers can receive announcements via IACET newsletter.
