Program Description

Properly done, providing quality detailed feedback on performance can boost achievement. This course is about learning how to provide effective feedback to peer colleagues and other learners about performance in the learning environment. Learning how to receive feedback will also be examined. After completing this program, the learner will be prepared to provide feedback to their peers in a positive and constructive way that will contribute to establishing an organizational culture of continuous improvement. Learners completing this program can expect to:

  • Recognize and apply methods for constructive formative feedback about learning and performance.
  • Demonstrate listening skills needed for giving and receiving feedback.
  • Evaluate the quality of the educational process and the continuing development of faculty member.
  • Promote the transfer of expertise and high-quality teaching practices among faculty members.
  • Determine the requirements for providing feedback for the purpose of developing the knowledge and skills of students and faculty members.
  • Assessment and review of the programs offered by the deanship for the university employees and measure their effectiveness.
  • Distinguish strategies for feedback between students and peers.
  • Apply a framework for providing excellent feedback that will make a difference.

Audience

This program is designed for educators who need to provide feedback to learners and/or their peers about performance in the learning environment.

Managers and leaders who complete this program will be able to:

  1. Recognize the need for effective feedback and the implications for quality learning.
  2. Demonstrate attending and listening skills for positive, thoughtful communications and feedback.
  3. Identify whether feedback involves a tension to manage or problem to solve.
  4. Explore the “Three Conversations” that happen in any difficult conversation and how to deal constructively with each.
  5. Apply the framework of “where am I?”, “where do I need to be?” and “how do I get there?”
  6. Deliver effective feedback.
  7. Better receive feedback.
  8. Apply best practices for having difficult conversations.
  9. Apply a framework for providing excellent feedback that will make a difference.

Participants will be provided with a certificate of program completion and digital badge.
